Pianura Padana (Po valley)

This is the largest plateau in Italy: towards the east it stretches on the low paths of the Veneto rivers, and is broadly called Pianura Padano-Veneta. Nationally, it has the highest concentration of inhabitants and economic activities. Over an area of 41,850 square km, only 1/8 of the national territory, Pianura Padano-Veneta hosts 14,850,000 inhabitants, over a quarter of the Italian population.
